You know, I could have sworn that I did a post about this particular sculpture, but I couldn’t find it anywhere so let’s just say I didn’t do it and I’ll do it now.
This piece of art is in Fort Tryon Park:
We have walked by it on a number of occasions and always wondered what it was called. Well, now we know.
It is called Columnade.
It was installed in 1973 by Eduardo Ramirez (1923-2004), but I doubt that anyone who walks by would know that. WE didn’t know that. How many times have we looked at it and commented on how dirty and beat up that “thing” was? Too many, I’m ashamed to say. It seems like the city forgot it even existed, and I don’t recall even seeing a sign about it anywhere.
Harumph.
I’ll definitely take a closer look at it the next time we pass by!
