Naturally (for me) when we decide we need to cut back on the sugar, my addiction kicks into high gear. This means I will do anything I can to get my hands on sugar. Even flying home to see my loving family (that’s why I go, you know) with the added bonus of buying any goodies I want. You know where this addiction takes me? I was just thinking about how my Dad offered me part of a Pearson’s Salted Nut Roll, which I turned down because I was trying to be as good as I could. I can almost taste it now! AAAAAHHHH!
Anyway, back to this post. The main thing I wanted to share was that I saw a box of cookies here in NYC that I only thought existed in WI.
Wait. I’ll get to that in a minute.
Do you remember Brach’s candy? It’s still around, but the packaging has changed so that I can barely recognize it:
Just saying, that is not the packaging I grew up with. It looks sort of circus-like now, but it used to look kind of classy. How disappointing.
Speaking of circus, or something that sort of looks like a circus, check out these cookies:
Yum!
Note the name Rippin’ Good. Rippin’ Good cookies used to be in Ripon, WI since 1930 until it was bought by Ralcorp in 1999, which is located in St. Louis, MO.
Harumph.
Oh well. That’s not really the point of the post, which I continually veer away from. Since we’re off the subject a bit, though, take a look at this plate o’ cookies I made (for sharing) at home:
Yowza!
I wasn’t going to eat them all myself. I mean, I’m supposed to be cutting down on sugar. Right? That’s what Chris and I agreed to … right? Well, I better get this post out of the way and chow down on an apple or something before I get carried away by the maple cookies, Snickers, and M&Ms that are in the cupboard calling my name …
No! Not gonna do it. I will NOT fall off the wagon. Apples, apples, apples, chocolate, apples …
Here we go. Here is the whole reason I brought you down this treacherous path:
Rippin’ Good Mint Creme (which I thought could only be found in WI).
And … are you ready?
Paskesz Kosher confectionery!
I had no idea! I could have been buying these cookies the whole time I’ve been living in NYC? How could I have missed it? I almost walked by it in the grocery store, but my radar picked it up. You wouldn’t believe how far away I can spot candy or a doughnut. Chris tried to block my seeing it (nice try) but he was unable to do it. So much so, that when I went to take a picture of the box, Chris got there first and took the picture you see above.
Even he knows, there is no resisting the draw of a true sugar addict.
*sigh*
I’m off to have some yogurt …
